PART 3 – twiiter-o-mania

Incase you want to see Part 1 , Incase you want to see Part 2

‘An online party for the twitter socialites known as “tweeple”

In the second part of my blog I mentioned about clear parallels between the socialite party and twitter and how the temptation for compiling this study is becoming stronger and stronger. It’s like the tweets being presented out are nothing but the talks of the party circuit.
When I look at my profile I find various kinds of tweets from various kind of people I follow. Some are related tweets between friends something like looking at a group of people in party where the sounds of the group make more sense than the individuals themselves. If I click on someone’s profile then its like zooming into one particular individuals thoughts because the profile of an individual shows only his contributions to the talk.
It’s a 24×7 party thanks to the various timeframes we live in it’s like a ever open restaurant or bar or a party place. The tweets are nothing but capturing the talks that happen over this timeframe. Its not that all of the people you follow should be online at the same time as yours although that makes for a live party. But you can visit this party even during the after hours only to find some threads being circulated around. Twiiter.com is the host and the apps (built on the apis ) are the agents bringing more and more people in the party.
The tweetscoop is a sort of a fashion statement of the party and twitter trends is the page 3 talk. The terms tweepies use and the way  sharing happens is although more interesting.
An inanimate object Cadbury bournville chocolate’s profile is nothing but a brand stall in this party where the high profile Socialite chetan bhagat signed up for a deal. In which all the gain went to the readers. The tweets I read Monday morning especially the ones coming out of the US indicate the drunken and party animal tweets.
Trying to figure out a relation to the twitter science -
Mentions – Nothing but the comments directed to you by both people you know and you don’t because anyone can send you a reply tweet. The hosts twitter people bring them to us clubbed together as mentions. Obviously I want to know what people talk about me in twitter circuit – something like the random views you get at a socialite party.
Direct Messages(DM) – The private conversations we have in a party. These are one to one messaged with visibility only to the people involved.
Favorites – The crushes I have when I meet a bunch of new people. I want to save it in my book just to recall whenever I want.
Tweets are uneditable – Words once told don’t get modified once they are out there’s no way to edit them. But yes since this is an online world you can trash your tweets. Although I don’t see it working effectively. They are still visible in searches.
Hashtags – A community driven initiatives. We start conversations but we want them to be visible to a wider audience. In the hope to make more enjoyable use a # in front of the word. For e.g. #awesome
And there you are your tweet will appear at the top of the searches related to awesome. We like some uninvited party people isn’t it. In the hope that they will surprise us. That’s how your own thought or your friends tweets become the buzz of the B-town. But make sure you follow hashtags if you want your tweets indexed.
Aren’t twitter a good host ? They block the spammers. They tell us about their service status after all the party must go on. You can join the party by texting also.
They have celebs verified accounts. So you know what those dazzling faces in the party are talking about. Not to mention that you and they are partying at the same place.

This socialite party needs a fundraiser this is where twestival.com comes into picture.

to be contd…
